PROTECT AND PROMOTE DEMOCRACY
Pandita is a nonprofit organization working to support a peaceful, harmonious and democratic society in Myanmar by strengthening civic participation.
Pandita was founded in 2011, a critical time when a quasi-civilian government was installed and tasked to transition the country to a functional democracy after more than fifty years of military rule.
Pandita’s founders come from diverse social backgrounds and fields of expertise, are committed to standing in solidarity with democracy activists throughout the country.
What We Did
Pandita has worked together with our partners to develop and strengthen civil society organizations; safeguard elections; increase interaction between citizens and public officials; influence policy reform and, raise civic awareness.
What We Do
Civics Now is a civic education through multimedia platform that aims to raise civic awareness among the citizens who uses the internet. Currently, the initial phase (a Facebook page) is active with thousands of followers, and more other activities are on the way.
Myanmar Bulletin is being run to provide a filtered collection of systematically archived information (in Burmese) to civil society leaders so that they can be updated on the latest news in Myanmar in a short time. There will be three types of Bulletins: daily, weekly and monthly editions.
Democracy Center is a space where civil society, government and political parties can meet, share information and collaborate. As an impartial and nonpartisan atmosphere for building trust, events, seminars and workshops organized in the center is be of vital importance not only for sharing information but also for enhancing cooperation between key stakeholders.

Pandita Development Institute (Pandita) has been officially registered pursuant to the Association Registration Law No.31.2014; a domestic nonprofit association registered at the Ministry of Home Affairs (MoHA) with the endorsement of the Ministry of Information (MOI).
